What is Co-Creative Healing?

A co-creative healing session begins by acknowledging that any true healing comes from within the person 'receiving' the session. Stephanie's role as a facilitator is to bring consciousness and awareness to the receiver and to help remind the body how to heal itself.

Stephanie uses many skills to help bring awareness to her clients. Her work is hands-on, blending primarily deep tissue, rocking, acupressure, CranioSacral, fascia release, Thai massage, and energy work.

"I have been a client of Stephanie Shrum's for the last five years. The bodywork I have experienced with her has been profound and transformational. Stephanie integrates a depth of training, skills, and knowledge of massage therapy cultivated through study and practice across the globe with a rare and powerful intuitive gift that enables her to tailor each session to the individual's holistic needs. I admire her integrity, her passion for healing, her hunger to keep learning and expanding, and her sensitivity to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of human experience. She is a stellar massage therapist."

Founder, Wild Lotus Yoga, New Orleans

One if the greatest gifts she brings to the session is her deep sense of presence. She is incredibly intuitive and she uses this intuition to guide her sessions. She comes to the table or the mat knowing that you are a different person then when you last visited her. Because of this, her sessions can be quite diverse each time - one session being very active and dynamic, the next session being deeply peaceful, or a combination of both during the same session. This ability to meet someone as they are in the moment keeps Stephanie's work fresh and exciting, both for her as a therapist and also for you as the client.

"Stephanie is an amazing bodyworker. She knows just where to apply pressure, and how to touch and release tension for me in ways that are totally unique to her work. I feel very held, supported, and challenged to be fully present. Stephanie's presence, her spirit and her techniques are an extraordinary gift."

KAREN DRUCKER, Psy.D.,
Licensed Psychologist, Boulder, CO

Although Stephanie begins sessions without attachment to the results, she is impassioned by transformative types of bodywork. Transformations can take place in the form of pain relief or disappearing symptoms, emotional releases, structural changes or simply a shift to an overall sense of well being.

"I consider Stephanie to be a Massage therapist/ healer. I say this because of my experiences of having Stephanie work on my various ailments. She finds problems and wonderfully cures them with her healing hands. She found an injury to my right thigh that I had acquired 25 years earlier … when I slipped and fell on a piling on my dock. My leg would ache and I just assumed it was something that I would have to live with until Stephanie said she thought she could alleviate the problem. Stephanie worked on my thigh for better than an hour I felt a pop and the pain was gone. [I] have not experienced any pain since.

Stephanie also cured my wife's carpel tunnel problem. My wife Pam had operations on both of her wrists the doctor told her she her fingers would not regain full feeling. Stephanie worked on Pam's wrists… [and] the next day Pam had full feeling in all her fingers."

What is also unique about Stephanie's work it its 'timeless' nature. Unlike many massage sessions in the United States, Stephanie does not book her sessions in specific time increments (such as hour, half hour, etc), but instead offers a session describes as 'an hour and half plus.' From her experience, the body does not turn on and shut off its own healing mechanisms based on the time of one's watch.

Sometimes a certain release requires a bit more patience. At other times, coming to a graceful closure in a timely manner is more therapeutic than overworking the body just because 'the clock is still ticking.' Most sessions tend to run between 1 ¾ hours to 2 ¼ hours. This unrushed schedule allows you and Stephanie to talk a bit before your session begins and gives you the time to get up from your session without feeling rushed.

"Stephanie is truly one of the most intuitive healers I know. I worked with Stephanie after experiencing the trauma of hurricane Katrina. Stephanie, with her hands on work, was able to both identify and begin to heal, deep seated emotions in my body that I was not even aware of. It is hard to describe exactly how Stephanie does what she does, but when you are through with one of her sessions, you feel lighter, clearer and better able to cope. During the sessions you experience a profound state of deep relaxation and meditation. She is masterful at helping you to identify and cope with any emotions or sensations that arise during the treatment. I just can't say enough about Stephanie!"
